Game Summary
Last night's game against the hated Tri-City Americans was one where the tips showed tremendous heart, effort, and grit...for the first 15 minutes.
Seriously, we saw players who really did look like they were playing against the trade deadline (earlier today), but it only lasted through the first period. Amazingly, even though the Americans dominated the last two periods and had literally four or five chances to tap the puck in for a goal, they were only able to tie the Tips and send the game to OT.
Kudos to Leland for a solid game in net, including a few spectacular saves in regulation and three shootout stops!
Players of Note
Dan Gendur, once again, set the pace for the Tips. If there is a guy playing harder, I don't see him (though maybe I'd give the nod to Kyle Beach).
Vitaly Karamnov keeps developing and keeps making things happen. This kid is going to be GREAT.
Dane Crowley...uh, what's happened? His play for the last two weeks has been inconsistent and he's normally one of our best defensemen. While he can still move the puck up the ice pretty regularly, he's had a few inopportune turnovers and some strange penalties because players beat him and got behind him.
He could have the flu, or maybe his girlfriend broke up with him, or maybe it's just some bad luck. Look for him to return to his old, dominating self soon.
Zach Hamill: when are you going to step up and be the leader this team needs and wants you to be? He's had streaks of brilliance and streaks where I don't even know if he's on the ice. But Zach is so good a player that we should ALWAYS know when he steps on the ice because he makes plays and makes his teammates better. We haven't seen that dominating performance yet.
