The Tips next home game is Saturday, December 16 against the craptacular Portland Winterhawks. These basement dwellers will visit the Everett Events Center (EEC) and be welcomed by 7,000 of the rowdiest fans in the WHL.
I sincerely hope some Winterhawk fans make the drive up north...that way they can see what a real stadium is supposed to sound like. We traveled to watch a game against the Winterhawks last season and a worse place to play a hockey game I could not imagine.
Between the kid in the chicken suit banging on the drum and the near-silence in the arena, every player on the ice could hear as we repeatedly yelled "Go Tips" while heckling the opposing bench. It was glorious.
It's sad to say that this game is a test of the Tips, because it shouldn't be. We should be worried about the Tips letting their guard down and giving up a loss to this team, but I'm actually worried we'll be outplayed because Becanic won't get the right team to show up.
Let's hope the team gets angry at Coach B's coaching acumen and then uses that emotion to play tough on the ice for the rest of the season.
